Jonathan Rypkema is a Philadelphia-based, multidisciplinary artist and designer whose practice includes functional and non-functional sculpture inspired by architectural details, forms, and the relationship between objects and their surroundings. Materials play an integral role in the development of his work, with offcuts and readily available materials often dictating the size, shape, and resulting form. Through design and hands-on fabrication, Rypkema explores the transformation of standardized and discarded materials into objects that balance function, structure, and visual character.
