Pangea Split
Announcing Pangea Split, a new exhibition of contemporary design-based works by Mound. Pangea Split will present recent painterly and structural experimentations within the Laminar line of epoxy resin furniture by Mound.
Like a cave waiting centuries to get painted, Laminar is the product of hand-applied layers of calcified liquid deposits. Laminar lets epoxy do what epoxy wants to do: pool and drip, dribble, drip and pool. Sopping wet cells split and divide as tendrils of colors emerge like a mold.. Dynamic structures contort around ideas of furniture, pushing and stretching, forms break and reassemble anew. Laminar flow is the appearance of arrested energy, flow becoming structure. Tectonic movement so slow, they are felt as stasis. Just another day living in Pangea, split.

About Mound
Mound is a design and fabrication house, born in a global pandemic and designing with end-times flair. We concern ourselves with Post-Lifestyle design: objects blind to feeble trends and bottomless pit consumption. To those early modernist shamans, who said design can better someone’s life and nourish the interior self, we listened and learned. Mound designs for the tomb-set society, those discerning old souls who suspect “new” was invented to sell shoes and cereal. Mound is a skull stretched across the periphery of your living room.
